Live reports from Apple's iPhone event have confirmed that the latest phone is a 4S. The first Apple phone to have a dual-core processor and dual-core graphics, the phone also sports an 8 megapixel camera which operates at up to 60% faster than earlier iOS devices. Other announcements include Siri, a personal assistant app operated by voice; tell it to wake you at 6am and it will, a free iOS5 download available from October 12th and Find My Friends - an app which will provide Foursquare with some serious competition. It's the announcement that iOS fans the world over have been waiting for - Apple have announced an iPhone event to take place in Cupertino on October 4th. The long awaited iPhone 5 will finally be announced and fans can plan their strategy for release day. It's strongly suspected that a cheaper version of the iPhone 4 will also be on the cards. So it looks like a date for the iPhone 5 has finally been decided - October 4th. However, this is the date the device is rumoured to be unveiled, not when it will be available. The release date hasn't been pinpointed more than "within a few weeks" of the announcement so bets are on as to the actual date. Will it be as quick as the iPad 2, which turned around in 9 days? Anyone who has seen Minority Report will have drooled over Tom Cruise's holographic computer equipment. This video shows a similar set up for an iPhone - a holographic keyboard which is projected onto a desk or similar surface. Ok, so it's not real and it probably won't be anytime soon but still, it looks pretty sweet. When someone finally releases one, I will be there!
